Refunds, and what happens to the platform fee
How to refund an order in whole or in part, and exactly which fees come back.
Refunds are issued from the order, in full or in part, and go back to the card the customer paid with.
Bakeable’s fee comes back too
When you refund, Bakeable’s platform fee is reversed in proportion. Refund half an order and half the fee comes back; refund all of it and all of it does. You are never left paying a platform fee on a sale that did not happen.
Your card processor’s own fee is a different matter. Stripe and Square do not return their processing fee on a refund, so a refunded order still costs you roughly 2.9% + $0.30. That is their policy, not Bakeable’s, and it applies wherever you take cards.
Partial refunds
You can refund part of an order more than once — for a missing item now and a goodwill gesture later. Each refund reverses its share of the fee, and Bakeable tracks what has already come back so nothing is reversed twice.
